The Dolphins are going after Kyle Orton and Reggie Bush! Hearing the deal for Bush is already done. www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/sfl-report-reggie-bush-to-the-miami-dolphins-in-the-works-20110728,0,2556119.story Thursday will not only be the busiest days of Jeff Ireland’s tenure with the Miami Dolphins, but it’ll likely be the one that defines his career as an NFL executive.
The Dolphins’ general manager not only must cut players with bloated salaries, sign his six draft picks before Friday’s start of training camp, but he’s also working to finalize trades and restructured contracts for Denver quarterback Kyle Orton and Saints tailback Reggie Bush.
Ireland’s spent the past two days working on a trade for Orton, a seven-year veteran who has a 32-29 record as an NFL starter, and early Thursday morning news surfaced that the Dolphins are trying to acquire Bush from the New Orleans Saints.
Bush, a former USC standout who won the Heisman Trophy, was going to be released by the Saint today because he’s due to earn a base salary of $11.8 million. According to Fox Sports, the Dolphins will reportedly send a late-round pick to New Orleans to keep Bush from hitting the free agent market, where he'll likely draw interest from Tampa Bay and St. Louis.
Meanwhile, ESPN is reporting the last hurdle to the trade between Saints and Fins was cleared when Reggie Bush reached agreement on a new 2-year contract with Miami.

Well we didn't get Orton. I sure hope Henne stays healthy. We got nobody behind him.
