HELP!!!! Honey bought a camcorder, mini DV style. Now we need to be able to transfer all of our old tapes onto a laptop to make DVD's. Problem is, neither one of us has a firewire port on our laptops. How do we (can we ) go about doing this? Is there an adapter to go from a card reader to firewire? Been told that USB to firewire is not an option. Have seen on Amazon ExpressCards and Card Bus adaptors. Really out of my league, perhaps one of the IT guru's here can point me in the right direction.
My laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ-60, if that helps.
thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure you are SOL, I don't believe that laptop has either an expresscard or card bus port and PCMCIA is old technology. thanks in advance.

Do you have a desktop computer? Adding a firewire card to a desktop would be easy.
I have a MiniDV camera...I hook it to my DVD recorder and transfer straight to DVD that way...that might be a fairly cheap way to go also.

You can find anything and everything on Amazon! Don"t I know it, shop there quite often. Plus, they ship here, at no charge. 13.3" Macbook Pro, with i3 processor and firewire port is still cheaper than at the Apple store, and no tax.
