I think it's because historically Haiti and France have always had a very close relationship. They were a French Colony which revolted, much as we did with England. We still have a close relationship with England as well. Tempers are raw right now. I wouldn't put too much stock in this.

I know several SC national guard folks that are over there. I'm currently doing volunteer work via ham radio sending and receiving messages.
Every one of the military people are saying off the record the biggest problem is the non stop dignitaries showing up for their photo op and a brief discussion with Haitian officials. As he put it, they have to clear the runway for the dignitaries security and that holds up rescue missions.

I don't believe the whole world hates us either, Bee Gee, although I'm sure that some of the world does. Sometimes deservedly so, and sometimes not.

I don't think the French get everything wrong just most things but they are outlawing the Burqa so a few Frenchmen and women have some common sense.
