This wil be the first year I host Thanksgiving in my own home. My old home was too small, and didn't have a dining area. I think it will just be my mom, my younger sister and me. My kid will be at his dad's, they have an annual football game, and it's something he really looks forward to each year. Soooo..... today I go shopping at a great little shop in downtown DeLand called "Somewhere in Time." I love this place, you go in and are greeted by Pugley, a very sweet dog. I chat witht he owner a bit about politics, and I find a Sheryl Crow CD a cookbook that looked wonderful (Better Homes and Garden Heritage Cookbook) and a turkey gravy pitcher. So head on back to work, and start thumbing through the book.... We are going to feast, FEAST I tell you... we're gonna have hot snapbean salad, steamed pumpkin pudding, hasty pudding, succatash(southern style, lima beans and corn...no cream sauce), Jerusalem Artichoke relish, cranlillies, and candied cranberries. Oh yeah...and turkey. I cannot believe the hundreds of old style recipes, including homemade mincemeat pie. It has favories from regions, from the colonies, from the Native Americans, and I'm only a 1/5th of the way through browsing. I'll try to post some of the recipes AFTER I get done looking!

Cranlillies is a sweet cranberry pickled relish with onions and peppers. Sorry it took so long to answer, I had to look it up again!

This year will be a standard. Turkey, Ham cornbread stuffing mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, brussel sprouts in a white wine sauce, candied yams, apple cake, banana pudding and pumpkin pie. The turkey is going to be fresh I just ordered it from a farm up next to the Wisconsin state line.

I'm actually excited, I found these beautiful Thanksgiving plates at Tuesday Morning, ony 4 of them, but there will only be 3 of us here. I'll hit up my favorite "junque" shop near work for matching glasses (the only ones that I have that match say BOO on them and are covered with ghosts!).

Where is that store in Deland? I don't think I have ever been in that one. There is a few around downtown that I have gone in but can't remember the names. I am always on the look out for milk glass and depression glass.
